1. Budget / Pricing
As a Timberframe Professional the most asked question I hear is what is the cost Per Square Foot ? "Cost per square foot" is a term that is used loosely in the construction Industry. It is however, not used as a guideline in the Timberframe Industry. There are multiple variables with each Timberframe design that can have a dramatic effect on the end cost. The overall cost of building a Timberframe home will usually be around 20% higher than that of a similarly designed custom home. If you are working with a modest budget, you can still build a timber frame home for slightly more than you can build a conventionally framed home with similar finishes.
Please be considerate about what your intended Budget is for your Timberframe Home or Structure. Everyone has a budget, regardless if it is a simple garden structure or full Custom / Turnkey Timberframe Home. Our goal is to customize a product based on your needs and your financial resources. Much wasted time and disappointment can be easily avoided when we are honest and up front about this one important point. All discussions and information are always kept confidential.
To help those who are in need of some general idea of potential cost, based on previous project's final costs we can design and deliver Timberframes for between $30 - $55 per square foot. Remember, the number of Timbers in a frame, the number of joints ( connections ), the complexity of the frame ( Multiple connected sections and Compound Roof Systems ) can all add to the overall cost per square foot. This is standard throughout the Industry. We can only give you a Fixed price once your Plans are finalized.
Packages generally run between $60-$100 per square foot of living space installed. Your completed new home will be slightly higher in price to homes built using conventional construction in your area. We typically see homes from $150 to $300 per square foot, depending on the area and the level of finish.
Timberframe packages vary from company to company. There are very few fixed costs in the Packages offered. The style, complexity, and the type of timber used in the frame will determine much of the pricing structure. We can only give you a fixed package price once the package details have been finalized.

We offer many different wood species used for the Timbers and Finishing materials. White Pine, Douglas Fir, White Fir, Western Red Ceder, Hemlock, White / Red Oak, Hickory, Ash, Maple, Cherry, Walnut are all species we have used or are currently using on clients Timberframes. All these materials are either Sustainably Harvested or Reclaimed from their previous use.
